  • Spiritual / philosophical, may or may not tell a story; might include translations / interpretations from old spiritual texts or the writing of saints, etc., might be a folk tale narrated in modern style
  • Places and People: We do not want the average travelogue / tourist guide, we're looking for pieces with a "lived-this" feel to them. About a place you've spent sufficient time in, to soak in the character of the place, its people, lifestyles, cuisine, and interactions or experiences there. Could even unfold like a story... we'd like 'personalised' pieces, true explorations of different places. Could be an off-the-beaten-track write up - a rare trek, an unexplored village or tribe or temple, or vanishing handicraft, etc.
  • Life Today: Could cover any issue that is worthy of debate, discussion and thought currently - the environment, the widening gap between the haves and have-nots, the inorganic growth of cities, the cost of living, rural migration, the future of agriculture, disappearing languages and cultures, the resurgence of traditional medicine forms, genetic modification, climate change, stress, diseases, water, parenting, suicides, etc. Could be an article contributed by an NGO working in a relevant focus area
  • Creative Pursuits / Hobbies: An article on music, literature, poetry or other creative pursuits - could be humorous, a personal experience, analytical, historical, a practitioner's view, etc.
Light Stuff Crosswords, other puzzles, jokes, small articles, recipes, cartoon strip
